7 Amazing Destinations For Multi-Generational Travel

Going on vacation with the whole family can be a life-changing experience filled with beautiful memories that everyone will cherish. As long as you choose the kind of trip that works for every single member, multi-generational travel can be a rewarding experience. It's all about finding a destination that offers something for everyone - from toddlers to grandparents - and leaves everyone smiling. With that in mind, the seven destinations I'm about to share have the perfect balance for all the family members to enjoy.

New Zealand

For an exciting family adventure, head to New Zealand, where there are activities and cultural experiences for all ages to enjoy. Adults will love learning about the Maori culture, and teens and young adults will appreciate the activities on offer, such as kayaking and bungee jumping. Don't miss your chance to visit Hobbiton, home of the Lord of the Rings, which will be a fun day out for everyone.

Italy

For a European cultural adventure, your whole family will delight in a trip to Italy. Grandparents will enjoy experiencing Rome and Florence's sights, while youngsters will love tasting the pizza and pasta that the country is renowned for. With fun locations such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa to visit, visitors of all ages will have a memorable time in Italy.

South Africa

South Africa is an incredible destination for all ages, mostly due to its world-class safaris. However, after experiencing a safari, it has so much to offer your family, including fantastic beaches and active adventures. Cape Town is an exciting city that everyone will enjoy exploring, and adults will appreciate learning more about South Africa's history.

Japan

One of my top recommendations for a multi-generational trip is definitely Japan, where you'll enjoy a culture that is entirely different from your own. Kids and Teens will love seeing everything related to famous Japanese cartoons, as well as wacky attractions such as the Robot Restaurant in Tokyo. Grandparents will enjoy cultural destinations, such as Kyoto, where they can enjoy a traditional tea ceremony and experience the country's nature and culture.

England

For people of all ages, visiting England is a bucket list trip, and with something to offer everyone, you will create memories to last a lifetime visiting England together. Start your visit with some time in London, where you can visit Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and London's Tower. Adults will love seeing the country's historical sites and palaces, while teens and kids will enjoy the modern museums, restaurants, and shopping on offer. With so many fantastic destinations to choose from, you can also enjoy a road trip visiting Bath, Stonehenge, the Lake District, and anywhere else that takes your fancy on the way.

Greece

Greece is one of my top picks for a multi-generational trip, thanks to the variety of vacation experiences it has to offer. Start your trip in Athens, where you can explore the country's history and visit must-see sites such as the Parthenon and the Acropolis. After that, head to one of the most popular islands, such as Santorini, where you can enjoy days in the sun and evenings spent sampling the delicious Greek cuisine.

Iceland

A trip to Iceland is like visiting nowhere else globally, with its vast landscapes and unique attractions. Your whole family will enjoy seeing the world-famous Blue Lagoon, where you can relax in its waters. Don't miss a day out enjoying the Golden Circle tour, which is a highlight for any country visitor. I'd recommend basing yourself in Reykjavik for at least part of your trip, where you'll enjoy great dining and can even head out on a whale-watching adventure.
